#simplycreate Creative Masking Tape Art Set
“You can get some really eye-catching results with Tape Art. It’s really simple to do, but really effective & it’s a technique that I use in my own work.
In the kit, there’s a whole colour palette of paints designed to work together. You’ve got different brush sizes, so you can be quite experimental in creating different looks. You also get a lovely finish on the watercolour paper which is really nice to paint on.
All the projects are explained step by step with instructions & videos. So you can create a whole gallery of designs – you’ll be having your own exhibition in no time!” – Jenny Muncaster
Design 1 – Your step by step guide
Creating The Border
Start by taping down your paper on all sides to a flat surface to make a border. Next start taping a ‘starfish’ shape of 5 strips and work out from there.
Creating The Shapes
Continue to mask off triangles or geometric shapes until you are happy with the design.
Deciding The Colours
Decide on your colours for the design by experimenting with some scrap paper before starting your tape art.
Start Painting
Begin painting your design, make sure your paint overlaps with the tape for a perfectly straight edge once the tape is removed.
Remove The Tape
Wait for the paint to dry, then very gently remove the tape without forcing it and it should peel smoothly away revealing a crisp white line.
Finished
Once all the tape is removed you have your finished design! Go on to create more patterns and experiment with different colours using this tape art technique.
Design 2 – Your step by step guide
Creating The Border
Start by taping down your paper on all sides to a flat surface to make a border. Tape 2 strips down to divide your paper.
Create The Shapes
Use shorter lengths of tape running down each strip in a v shape, equal distance and then repeat the pattern on the other side. Repeat this process.
