Anne Barron

I'm an artist who specialises in portraits of animals but likes to dabble in a variety of styles and mediums.  For some years I was travelling about the UK doing demonstrations to art clubs on how to draw animals in various types of pencils, but 7 years ago moved to the Shetland Islands but have set up an art club which enables me to continue teaching and sharing my enthusiasm for art.

I was heavily involved in the organisation of various exhibitions in Sheffield before coming to Shetland including a specialist wildlife exhibition, through which my colleague and I raised over £20,000 for various wildlife and conservation charities over a number of years.  This was part of the reason why I was accepted into the prestigious Artists For Conservation website as a signature member.  I'm also a Professional Associate of the Society for All Artists and an Associate Member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society.

Attached is an artwork I did a few years ago based on the amazing Up Helly Aa festival in Shetland which attracts visitors to the area from all over the world.  This was done in acrylic on a deep canvas, but I also use pencils, pastels, watercolours, silk paints and oils.
