Celebrating Nature Through Art

The 2025 Southern Nature Art CIC Exhibition and the Daler-Rowney Prize

29/08/2025

Each year, Southern Nature Art CIC brings together artists and audiences who share a passion for the natural world. As a non-profit Community Interest Company run by artists for artists, the organisation is dedicated to creating an exhibition environment that truly supports creative practitioners. Its four Directors, all award-winning artists working within nature-focused subjects, understand the realities of an artist’s day-to-day practice, and have shaped an event that reflects those needs with care and intention.

The Southern Nature Art (SNA) Exhibition has grown to become the largest independent nature art exhibition in the UK. Held each August bank holiday at Rookesbury Park, it welcomes artists from across the country and showcases an impressive breadth of wildlife and nature-inspired work across media and styles. Set against the rolling countryside, it offers a space for visitors and artists alike to engage with artwork that celebrates the richness and fragility of the natural world. Alongside this, the organisation continues to raise funds for wildlife charities and nurture a thriving creative community.

Daler-Rowney is proud to support this commitment with the ‘Fragile Earth’ category annual prize awarded at the exhibition. This year’s winner, Scarlett Woodman, shared how meaningful the experience was, both personally and artistically:

“I was drawn to apply to the Southern Nature Art Exhibition as it seemed like such a rare and wonderful thing to have a whole show dedicated to artworks inspired by the natural world, and in such a beautiful building and setting. I was so excited my work was accepted and even more so that my piece ‘The Roundel’ won the ‘Fragile Earth’ prize. It was very inspiring and affirming to be part of such an exhibition and have my work recognised in that way. Since then, I have been busy making lots of new work responding to the materials and images I’m constantly collecting! As well as, opening my studio to the public as I do every year during South East Open Studios, putting on my own solo show at a pop-up gallery in Whitstable, and taking part in many group exhibitions local to where I live in Kent.”

The 2025 exhibition continues to champion creativity rooted in observation, care, and a deep respect for the environment. Through its prizes, community focus, and artist-centred approach, Southern Nature Art CIC remains an important space for celebrating the talent and diversity found in nature art across the UK.
