Daler-Rowney Supports Bracknell Mural Project

Art has the power to bring people together. That belief sits at the heart of PAINT LOUD, the philosophy that is guiding everything we do at Daler-Rowney. PAINT LOUD is more than a tagline, it is a call to action for every artist to embrace their unique voice and make a difference. So, when the opportunity arose to support a new community mural right here in Bracknell early January 2026, in partnership with Peter Swallow MP and students & teachers from Bracknell and Wokingham College – Activate Learning, we did not hesitate.
Designed to celebrate Bracknell’s community spirit, diversity and local identity, the mural now stands as a vibrant piece of public art that reflects the people and cultures that make this town unique. For us, it also carries a deeper meaning – Bracknell is our home, and this project is a reminder of everything that makes this community so special to us.
A Competition That Put Students in the Spotlight
The project began with a design competition, inviting Creative Arts students to develop original mural concepts inspired by the theme of community pride and diversity. Students researched Bracknell’s history, its changing landscape, and the people who call it home, translating their ideas into colourful and meaningful designs. The entries showcased a wide range of creative approaches, each reflecting what community means to the next generation of artists.
Following the competition, a judging panel, which included Peter Swallow MP, Cllr Helen Purnell, and senior leadership at the college, selected the winning design by Presley Shearer, which would go on to become the final mural.
Turning a Vision into Reality
Once the winning design by Presley Shearer had been chosen, students worked together to transform the concept into a large-scale mural, gaining invaluable experience of planning and painting artwork in a public setting.
